Review this form field by field

Any form with more than three fields, before it goes anywhere near users.

Review this form. Go field by field.

For each field, state:
- Why we are asking, and whether we could get it later or not at all.
- Whether the label is a label and not an instruction in disguise.
- The right input type, keyboard, and autocomplete value.
- What happens on invalid input and when validation fires. Validate on blur, not on every keystroke, unless there is a reason.
- Whether it is optional and says so, or required and says so. Pick one convention and hold it.

Then at form level: field order and its logic, grouping, the submit label, what happens on a failed submit, and whether anything the user typed can be lost.

Finish with the fields you would delete first, and say which are tradition rather than need.
