Strip the jargon out
Corporate or technical writing that has stopped meaning anything.
Remove the jargon from the text below. For every piece of jargon, do one of three things and tell me which: 1. Replace it with plain words. 2. Keep it and define it on first use, because it is genuinely the precise term. 3. Delete the sentence, because the jargon was hiding the absence of a point. Be suspicious of: leverage, utilise, synergy, robust, seamless, holistic, best-in-class, stakeholder alignment, operationalise, at scale, solutions, drive, unlock, enable. Call out any sentence where you cannot tell what is being claimed. Quote it and ask me what I meant rather than guessing. Text:
Making it yours
- Paste your own material where the prompt asks for it. Everything above that line is instruction, not content.
- Delete any rule that does not apply to you. A shorter prompt that fits beats a thorough one that does not.
- If the answer comes back vague, add a line saying what you do not want. Constraints work better than encouragement.
Clarity and plain language. Stripping jargon and abstraction until a reader gets it on the first pass.
