Turn this backlog into a short list
Several hundred unread messages and no idea where to start.
Triage the messages below. Return four groups: 1. Needs me this week โ with what is being asked and the deadline. 2. Needs a two-line reply โ with the reply drafted. 3. Needs filing, no reply. 4. Can be deleted unread, grouped by sender. Be decisive. Something that has sat unanswered for a month and produced no follow-up rarely needs answering now โ put it in group 4 and say so plainly rather than moving it to group 1 to be safe. Finish with the single message to deal with first, and why it beats the others. Messages:
Making it yours
- Paste your own material where the prompt asks for it. Everything above that line is instruction, not content.
- Delete any rule that does not apply to you. A shorter prompt that fits beats a thorough one that does not.
- If the answer comes back vague, add a line saying what you do not want. Constraints work better than encouragement.
Triage and actions. Turning a backlog into the few things that genuinely need you, with everything else named and dismissed.
